Haines City, Florida, fondly referred to as “The Heart of Florida” because of its central location, is a rapidly growing city in Polk County, between Tampa and Orlando. Haines City was named in honor of Colonel Henry Haines, a late 19th century railroad developer, who is credited with establishing railroad service through Central Florida. A favorite local attraction is Lake Eva Park, home to the annual Ironman 70.3 competition and The Ribs on the Ridge barbeque festival. Attractions close to Haines City include Legoland Florida, Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens. The subtropical climate of Haines City predictably delivers warm and humid summer days as well as blissfully delightful, sunny and breezy winter weather.
